The Football Traveller - football fixtures from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland
HOLMANS (12/11/2005) I attended the Holmans Sc vs Falmouth Town Cornish cup tie. The club
who are based in Camborne play just off Pendarves road, near to the police station. As you
enter the top car park, a large clubhouse which was an old two floor manor house with
three bar areas including sky, darts and pool tables. Walking out down past the bowls
green is where the dressing rooms are situated and where a table was set up taking the £2
admission including a four page all colour programme. The dressing room area included a
snack bar, which sold tea, crisps and chocolate throughout the match. The second team
pitch is situated in front of this and between that and the first team pitch was a cricket
square. The 1st team pitch, was roped off along both sides with trees enclosing the far
side, together with permanent dugouts and a cricket scoreboard. A crowd of around ninety
watched Falmouth win by six goals to one. |
