The New Saints v Caersws - 1st September 2007, at 2.30pm Note that this - and apparently all TNS home fixtures this season - will be played at the redeveloped Park Hall stadium, Oswestry on the new artificial surface, and NOT at Treflan, Llansantffraid. Treflan is only being used by the new Llansantffraid Village club in the Montgomeryshire League.

Saturdays' West Yorkshire Leaue game between Aberford Albion v Bardsey is missing from league website. Aberford secretary was unsure. Any ideas?

Last night a group of us visited Borras Park Albion of the Welsh National League (Wrexham area) after discovering by a chance phone call that they are no longer on the playing field in Dean Road. The new pitch is just a few hundred yards away on Rhosnesni playing fields. Fork left immediately after the entrance to the old ground and the playing fields are in front of you. The entrance is in the far corner on Oak Drive. For those travelling on public transport, several buses pass the ground (one we saw was a 35, and another would have been useful if the 6.15 kick off time had been stuck to. It is a very basic venue, being a public park with two pitches, the one being used last night being closest to the dressing rooms and roped off down the sides. No gate was taken or programme issued and no refreshments were available. In bad weather cover is available in the bus shelter on Oak Drive about 20 or so yards from the touchline! Interestingly, the reserves were also at home, playing on the old pitch on Dean Road

Tomorrow's (Wednesday) game between Pewsey Vale and Tytherington Rocks has been postponed due to floodlight problems. Black Country Rangers are sharing at Willenhall Town FC.

Thanks to the information in TFT, I saw Bilston 2007 play their Bank Holiday fixture at Bantock Park , Wolverhampton. No programme. Two weeks ago I visited Bentley Youth, a good set up but no programme.

Just a note via the message board to say thanks to those who provided info re Sorrento FC in Italy. They were at home last sunday in an italian preliminary cup match against Sanguiseppese.admission was 10 euros and the game finished 2-0 to the home side. No programmes were issued but I managed to get a team sheet from the sponsors area.

Canterbury City will be producing a programme for their first game as a reformed club against Borden Village on Sep 1. Canterbury City are not causing any other teams problems in the area and have had nothing to do with Tyler Hill folding. The Chislet CWFC ground is no more than a park pitch so not missing anything.
(Webmaster: No more comment please on the problems at Tyler Hill)

Tyler Hill - Kent County League. I have had an e-mail from my mate at the Crocks saying Tyler Hill ... 'have withdrawn all their senior teams from all competions as of last week'. I heard earlier that their first team had all gone to the new Canterbury City club so this could be the reason for withdrawal, and not a good start for a new club to be causing others problems in the area. It's also a shame as the Tyler Hill ground is the old Chislet MWFC ground and I was looking forward to a visit.

BERE ALSTON UNITED. Promoted from the Duchy League to the East Cornwall League, Bere Alston United are based at The Recreation Ground, The Down. I attended the club's opening fixture against Camelford Reserves on August 18th when an attendance of 22 saw a convincing 5-2 home win. Programmes are not being produced, although a one-off was issued for the pre-season friendly against a Plymouth Argyle XI and copies may still be obtainable at the ground.

Tyler Hill who were due to play in the British Energy Kent County Premier Division have folded.

Pamplona is a LONG way from railway station. Check buses on Google (ALSA.es} Very good site for all long distance buses in Spain and in English. Santander is cheap to fly to with a few buses to Pamplona . But can check other cities services on this site.
16/8/07 15:55 Chris Oakley
Apologies for being idle but what is the best way to get to Pamplona in Spain for an Osasuna game...I am sure that there are a number of the fraternity who have been there who could advise on best airport to aim for, train or bus etc...many thanks.

According to the Welsh Premier League website, and BBC teletext, tomorrow night's game v The New Saints has been switched to Newi's home ground, and TNS will play home games this season at their new ground in Oswestry - subject to approval from the FAW. (Webmaster: TNS' website states: "THE New Saints' opening game of the season against NEWI Cefn Druids has been switched from Treflan to the Ancients' Plas Kynaston Lane ground on the same date - Friday 17 August (19.30). Sorrento are at home to Sangiuseppe at 5pm on August 19th. The stadium is at Via Califano. For further info, try Sorrento Calcio or Forza Sorrento (a strange English language site linked to Barry Town!) which includes directions to the stadium. Prices have been in the region of 10 euros but promotion to serie C1 may mean an increase.

After a successful trip to Gothenburg (one Allesvenskan, one Superettan and two Div. 6C games!), might be off on my travels again in September. Geneva might be our port of call. Know that Servette have a game that weekend - anyone know if it's easy to get in? Anything else in the city we might try?
7/8/07 22:15 John Delaney
Sorrento. Have a look at www.sorrentocalcio.com This will probably tell you all you need to know except future fixtures - or am I looking in the wrong place? The ground is an easy walk from the town.
