Tyler Hill - Kent County League. I have had an e-mail from my mate at the Crocks
saying Tyler Hill ... 'have withdrawn all their senior teams from all competions as of
last week'. I heard earlier that their first team had all gone to the new Canterbury City
club so this could be the reason for withdrawal, and not a good start for a new club to be
causing others problems in the area. It's also a shame as the Tyler Hill ground is the old
Chislet MWFC ground and I was looking forward to a visit. |

BERE ALSTON UNITED. Promoted from the Duchy League to the East Cornwall League, Bere
Alston United are based at The Recreation Ground, The Down. I attended the club's opening
fixture against Camelford Reserves on August 18th when an attendance of 22 saw a
convincing 5-2 home win. Programmes are not being produced, although a one-off was issued
for the pre-season friendly against a Plymouth Argyle XI and copies may still be
obtainable at the ground. |

Sorrento are at home to Sangiuseppe at 5pm on August 19th. The stadium is at Via

been in the region of 10 euros but promotion to serie C1 may mean an increase. |

I've just come back from Norway & it appears they are getting good crowds in top
division. I read in one mag 'crowds are booming.' On Saturday I didn't take in a game from
my Oslo base as I believe Sandefjord were playing their (possibly) 1st match at their new
stadium. I could have booked ticket online but my Norwegian isn't up to much & they
wouldn't reserve me a ticket although the travelling costs weren't cheap, so I didn't
gamble. This match I believe was close to a sell out. On Sunday I left early for
Fredrikstad v Lillestrom & arrived at shop at dinner time to be told the match is a
sell out. I went back to watch Skied (2nd level) play at the Bislett Stadion in front of a
crowd of 295 which cost me close to £15. No problems watching Valerenga on Monday night,
this cost me £13 behind the goal. This was the only thing which was cheap all weekend! |

Anybody have any successful experiences of trying to obtain tickets for an AZ
Alkmaar home match? We want to see a game there in November which fits perfectly into our
Dutch schedule, but negative replies from their club info e-mail along the lines of
'Unfortunately it's not possible to watch a match off (sic) AZ without a clubcard. It is
also not possible to apply for a clubcard' seem to have dashed our hopes. Any suggestions?

Replies to Graham Paine and Latvia
Dave
Woodings: In answer to Graham Paine according to www.lff.lv ( click on
Cempionats un sacencibas at the top, then choose Virsliga and then Tresais Rinkis at the
side) the only game on 4th August in the top division is FK Jurmala v FC Dinaburg. Jurmala
is a short distance out of Riga and has a regular train service. Unfortunately I cannot
trace any fixtures for lower divisions from this site but www.soccerway.com lists
fixtures in Div 1 on the 4th August at three clubs in Riga, of which Multibanka (Daugavas
Stadion) would appear to be the best bet. Incidentally the Latvian FA offices are at this
stadium if you want any more help and can find anyone who speaks any English ! Soccerway
has the Virsliga game the other way round but I would tend to go with the lff site as
being more up to date.
Hoddy: All Latvian fixtures on www.lff.lv .Mess around you will find them
Graham. You appear to have picked a bad weekend .No top div, they are July 29,30,31 and
Aug 7,8,9. But lower div available over weekend.
Peter Abbott: Latvia games w/e 4-5 Aug 2007, top division matches are as
follows, Sat 4 Aug FK Jurmala - Dinaburg Daugavpils (15-00) Mon 6 Aug Metalurgs Liepaja -
Olimpia Riga (18-00) Tues 7 Aug FK Riga - Skonto Riga (18-00) Weds 8 Aug FC Daugava - FK
Jurmala (18-00)
Chris Dickinson: Jurmala is easy to reach from Riga - train to Slokas
stadion along the coast past Majori etc. 2nd tier - some of these are in or around Riga -
I'd recommend Tukums, next stop after Jurmala, I'm going there again in early July
04.augusts (sestdiena) 16:00 RFS "Flaminko" - FK "Abuls"
04.augusts (sestdiena) 16:00 FK ''Jelgava'' - FK "Tranzits"
04.augusts (sestdiena) 16:00 FK "Auda" - FK ''Valmiera''
04.augusts (svetdiena) 17:00 FK "Vindava" - SK "Blazma"
05.augusts (svetdiena) 16:00 FK "Multibanka" - FK "Zibens/Zemessardze"
05.augusts (svetdiena) 16:00 FK "Tukums-2000" - FK "Jauniba - Parex"
Stan Armett: In reply to Graham Paine's question, the only top level (Virsliga)
game in Latvia that weekend appears to be on Sat 4th August when FK Jurmala take on FC
Dinaburg at 1800. Jurmala is roughly 50km west of Riga. This is shown on the web page
http://lff.hosting.lv/lv/virsliga/fixtures/2007/3/ which also has links to club
information and websites. |

I am
going to be in Riga over the weekend of August 4/5. Could anyone give me details of any
games in the city on either of those two days ? I have tried the website mentioned here
recently without any success - the fixtures stopped the previous weekend! Any help would
be gratefully received. |

Goodness knows how or why but Crockenhill remain a Senior club, as much to my
amazement they were not relegated! I understand that around 25 people involved with the
youth teams were working at the ground last weekend. The main stand is being spruced up
and a half-finished covered and stepped structure behind the village end goal - room for
around 40 fans - is being completed. Along with a really superb programme being produced
for all games I'd humbly suggest the club may be worth a visit next year? |

Regarding DSL programmes,I have never seen one in the years I've been visiting
them. The only one I've found in the Llandyrnog & District is Henllan who issue for
every match. I have never seen a programme in the Catforth & District League except
the Final at Garstang FC which they do issue for |

No knowledge of any progs in Derby Summer League, but did get one on Saturday at
Balfron Rovers - a very neat 4 page issue, which lists all this season's fixtures in the
Forth and Endrick league - 12 teams between Stirling and Balloch - on the shores of Loch
Lomond The programme also revealed that Thornhill (their opponents last Saturday lost a
game a few years back by a 7-9 scoreline |

Re Derby Summer League - the only programme I've had was back in 2000 for the
Bill Redfern Cup Final played at Osmaston. I remember being told it was the first time
they'd done a programme, but whether they've done any for cup finals since I've no idea. |
 |
8/6/07 13:50 Mike Burt
I think that the Kent County Constabulary should be informed that people living
outside Tunbridge Wells are interested in the Tunbridge Wells Veterans League!! |
 |
8/6/07 10:51 Steve Hardy
Derby Summer League: As no more experienced DSL watchers than myself have replied
to your request for programme info in the DSL, here is my own limited knowledge. I have
visited just over half the member clubs now, and there hasn't been a sniff of a programme
at any of them. Doveridge were rumoured to have issued a few years back, but club
officials laughed at the idea when I visited them. The DSL is basically a pub-side league
with matches in beautiful surroundings out in the country usually, and a nice pint of beer
available at the pub after the game. |

In
reply to Alan Garner : when you go to FK Riga - 18 of you will nearly double the gate !
Seriously crowds in Latvia are very small, often in the low hundreds, and even Skonto only
attract a couple of thousand at most - see info under results shown on www.lff.lv. So just
turning up and paying (not a lot) on the day should present no problems at all. |

5/6/07 18:48 Roland Reeve
In
response to Alan Garner's comments about getting into a game in Riga you will have
absolutely no problem as I attended the local derby between Skonto and F.K. Riga and the
the crowd was about 250! Addmission cost the equivalent of about £1.50 and a programme
for about 10p |
 |
5/6/07 18:06 Julian Lillington
Anyone going to the Island games in Rhodes looking to share transport to games?? |
 |
5/6/07 17:12 Chris Dickinson
Alan
Garner - I too hope to attend the Riga Ventspils game. I was hoping not to need a ticket
but know little about the club. Didn't need a ticket for last years trip to Jurmala and
know crowds are fairly low in Latvia. |
 |
5/6/07 16:24 Chris Bedford
Has anyone picked up a programme from a Derby Summer League game? The only game
I've seen was at Ostrich a few seasons ago and nothing was issued. |
 |
5/6/07 16:24 Chris Bedford
Ken, I
visited Gothenburg back in 1994. I remember the Ullevi and Gamla Ullevi being within
comfortable walking distance of the city centre and that the railway station was
conveniently located as well.
If you want to find a game for the Wednesday as well, try the 'Matcher idag' link in the
Verktygsladan text box on the right hand side of www.svenskfotboll.se/ |
 |
4/6/0713:34 Ken Nisbet
Thanks to those
who replied about Gothenburg. Had another look at the fixture lists, and the games listed
for that midweek are Monday: Orgryte vs. Jonkopings Sodra and Tuesday: IFK vs. Orebro.
Sounds like it'll be fine to get into these. Hacken seem likely to be in the UEFA Cup that
week, and it would be good were they at home that Thursday! Would be using public
transport - any ideas on accessibility of the grounds by that? |
 |
4/6/07 09:01 Alan Garner
I am
visiting Latvia early July and am hopeing to watch Riga against Ventspils, does anyone
have any advice on how easy/difficult it is too obtain tickets.Tried phoneing Riga FC but
language problems are proving difficult. (18 tickets required in total) |

4/6/07 23:36 Dave Woodings

Draw for the second round of the FAI Cup made last week : Longford Town v Celbridge Town
Fanad United v St. John Bosco; Dundalk v Athlone Town; Limerick 37 v Wexford Youths;
Phoenix v St. Patrick's Athletic; Salthill Devon v UCD; Bray Wanderers v St. Mochtas;
Kildare County v Kilkenny City; Tolka Rovers v Waterford United; Derry City v Monaghan
United; Galway United v Finn Harps; Douglas Hall v Cobh Ramblers; Shamrock Rovers v Sligo
Rovers; Drogheda United v Bohemian F.C.; Malahide United v Cherry Orchard; Shelbourne v
Cork City.
The ties will be played on the weekend of 14-17 June.
Of the non-league sides drawn at home, Phoenix, Tolka and Malahide are from Leinster
Senior, Fanad from Ulster Senior, Douglas Hall from Munster Senior and Salthill Devon from
the Galway Amateur League.
Some of these, especially Phoenix, may not be allowed to use their own grounds but it
looks as if Tolka definitely will. |

In
reply to Ken Nisbit, I agree pay at the gate for most games in Sweden is fine but we
nearly got caught out at Gefle v IFK Goteborg a couple of years ago. This game was
completely sold out in advance for home fans (only a small stadium) and we only managed to
get in with the IFK fans after a "chat" with their accompanying police liaison
officer. |
 |
4/6/07 20:17 Phil Loy
In
response to Ken Nisbit I visited BK Hacken several years ago for a Thursday evening match,
albeit a Swedish League match. I had my car with me and it took around 20 minutes from
Central Gothenberg, head for the big bridge across the harbour and cross to the other
side. Signed from there. Parking was no problem with there being meters, past their
payment time, just up a small hill from the ground in a very peaceful residential area. No
security issues. We paid at the gate with women getting in for half price and newspaper
style programmes being plentiful throughout the arena.
In more recent seasons we have paid on the night for UEFA matches in Graz and Prague
without difficulty. |
 |
4/6/07 17:39 Chris Ashbridge
In
response to Ken Nisbet's enquiry, entry to all league games in Sweden is pay on the gate,
no advance booking required although local derbies in the top division may be best avoided
anyway especially those involving AIK who have a reputation for trouble.
This is a good year to see an Orgryte home game as they are currently using the Valhalla,
a temporary ground next door to the Ullevi, while the Gamla Ullevi nearby is being
rebuilt. I plan to go there on Tues June 12th. No club has been known to use the Valhalla
before this season. |
 |
4/6/07 15:43 Ken Nisbit
Planning,
if I can get myself organised, to go to Gothenburg for a few days in July (29/7-3/8) and
see there are midweek games (IFK, Orgryte, and maybe a UEFA Cup match at Hacken). Any gen
on how to get tickets, and how easy/difficult it is to do? |

I attended the Royal Marines v Parachute Regiment game at Sandy Park (Exeter
Chiefs Rugby ground) on 23 May. It ended 2-2. The Exeter Express carried a report a couple
of days later and gave an estimated crowd of 1,000 but no goalscorers.I've since found out
that the RM scorers were Dan Boere and Richard Hope. There were several travellers at the
game - does anyone know the names of the Para Regiment scorers, please? |

Re JFF Telford and Wem Town. JFF did not issue a programme last Saturday when
they played Clee Hill United on an outer pitch at Oakengates Leisure Centre. Neither team
is cited on the list of programme issuers on the Shropshire County League website,
although this list was compiled in October 2006. |
