I attended the Royal Marines v Parachute Regiment game at Sandy Park (Exeter
Chiefs Rugby ground) on 23 May. It ended 2-2. The Exeter Express carried a report a couple
of days later and gave an estimated crowd of 1,000 but no goalscorers.I've since found out
that the RM scorers were Dan Boere and Richard Hope. There were several travellers at the
game - does anyone know the names of the Para Regiment scorers, please? |

Saturday's game between JFF Telford v Hopegate is now OFF. It will now be played
Bank Holiday Monday 12.00 - Venue most likely to be Wellington Ams FC. I will try to
produce a programme on behalf of JFF Telford - it will be a 4 / 6 pager but at least it's
something.
Wem and JFF do not issue as yet. But Wem do produce a badge. We will be addressing the
issue of programmes and the production of badges at our agm. |

Re JFF Telford and Wem Town. JFF did not issue a programme last Saturday when
they played Clee Hill United on an outer pitch at Oakengates Leisure Centre. Neither team
is cited on the list of programme issuers on the Shropshire County League website,
although this list was compiled in October 2006. |

worth checking if you are intending to travel. |

Baldock Town will be taking on St Ippolyts in the North & Mid Herts League's
Benevolent Shield Final on tonight (Thursday 17 May 2007). The match is a 7.45pm kick-off
at Hitchin Town FC. Admission will be £3 Adults and £1 Concessions. There will be a
programme for this match. St Ippolyts are the new Premier Division Champions and Greg Cup
Winners, so they are going for a treble this season. Baldock Town are arguably the second
best if not best team in the league and were runners-up in this season's Herts Junior Cup,
which started with 120 teams from all over Herts. Town also are the only team domestically
to beat St Ippolyts this season, winning 3-1 in April at the Recreation Ground. It
promises to be an excellent match and certainly closer than St Ippolyts 11-0 Greg Cup
Final win over Fairlands! For more information go to www.baldocktownfc.co.uk. |

West Yorkshire League: According to the league the game between Sherburn White Rose and
Beeston St Anthony's will now take place on Friday 18th May (Kick-off 18.15)instead of on
Saturday.
West Riding County Amateur League: Last night's game between Keighley Shamrocks and
Littletown was postponed as the visitors could not raise a team (probably something to do
with saving themselves for a cup final on Friday). The game will probably be re-scheduled
for next week. Keighley Shamrocks need to win their last two games in order to gain
promotion. |

Took in Truro at Wembley, did plan to park n ride but found the Ikea store a mile
to the East of Wembley(just off the A406 North Circular) handy for parking and a cheap
cooked breakfast. The No 92 Ealing Hospital bus runs every 15 mins taking 6 mins. The bus
leaves from the bus stop between Ikea and Tesco, £2 single but may be doing the trip back
to Ikea on foot due to traffic leaving the ground. |

Yesterday I was one of several travellers at Mid Wales League side Four Crosses'
final game of the season. Visitors Tywyn Bryncrug won 3-0. A decent programme was sold for
a £2 admission charge and badges were also for sale at the tea bar for £2. The village
is accessible by public transport as two travellers made it by bus from Shrewsbury (arrive
at 11:48 or 13:48 and return back at 16:45, OK for a 2.30 or earlier kick-off). Mick Burt
visited 4C at the end of last season and I agree with his comments made in this season's

Travellers wanting "fix" for a couple of more weeks might like to know
that the following leagues have fixtures until the last few days of May The Coventry
Alliance who's fixtures are available via "Yellow Jersey" have games listed
until the 24th May. The Aylesbury & District who's fixtures are on "Mitoo"
have games listed until the 22nd May. Both these leagues have been known to go on in the
past and I suspect most of the info to be correct, in the case of the Aylesbury League,
notes are appear against fixtures if they are changed or cancalled.
In the OSL Division One the game this week on Wednesday at Stonesfield (v Kings Sutton)
has already been awarded as a home win.
Also the one reamaining game in the East Berks League in Division One on Wednesday night
between Cippenham Sports and Holland Park has awarded to Holland Park. This game is in the
division below the one that appears in traveller, but the fixture has been appearing in
the local rags around the East Berks area. |

Anyone thinking of taking in a fixture in the Oxfordshire Senior League is
advised to check the match and venue before travelling. Looking at "Mitoo" a
number of games have recently be awarded due to no shows or clubs unable to raise a side.
Last night's fixture between Marston Saints and Middle Barton was played on a council
pitch at Cutteslowe Park and not at Marston's home ground.
Any midweek fixture which is at Rover Cowley / Romanway will be played on the main ground
(ex Pressed Steel, Morris Motors, Headington Ams. Oxford City, Worcester COB, etc)and not
the Cricket ground, this effects Horspath FC. Their game last Thursday was played on the
main pitch and not the Cricket ground next door. |

I completed a Nuneaton-based double on Bank Holiday Monday with games at Nuneaton
Griff and Stockingford AA. Griff defeated Southam 6-4 in the afternoon game and produced
an excellent programme, which was sponsored and I felt an excellent idea to cover printing
costs. Stockingford appear to be regular issuers but were unable to do so on Monday due to
unforseen circumstances. I established that West Midlands Police in Div One also issue. |

Ref- Andy Langfords Message re Sully Sports ground. The reason for the postion of
the stand which by the way is built for 108 people (Welsh people must be slimmer than than
our pastie eating English friends). is because of ambulance access. As the entry though the
pitch barriers are blocked of by the goal posts it had to be that way. Take your point
though would have been better as you said. We have to redo the dugout roofs which will
take the height down a little. thanks for your interest. We have no access to grants so we
are self funding so its difficult to get every thing done at once therefore these things
happen. |

6/5/07 Andy Langford
With Rugby Leagues Millennium Magic weekend taking place in Cardiff, with Hull v
Hull KR(5pm) and St.Helens v Wigan(7pm) being the two matches that interested me, this
gave me a chance of football beforehand. I chose the 2pm kick off in the South Wales FA
Senior Lge, Div.1, between Sully Sports and Caerphilly Town. Having won their last 12
league matches, Sully needed a point from this game to retain the title, which looked in
doubt when the visitors deservedly took the lead after 74 minutes, but goals in the 79th
and 85th minutes sealed a 2-1 win and the title, in front of a crowd of just over 80.
Further to Burt's Travels, TFT 33, the ground is now enclosed with mesh fencing, and there
is now cover for about 40-50, which gives an excellent view of the back of the dugouts,
with the view of the pitch being 'restricted' at best. Why do so many clubs build brand new
cover/stands right behind the dugouts?, especially when, apart from the pitch being
railed, these are the only other things at the ground. |

There appears to be two ground amendments in the Oxfordshire Senior League.
Wheatley "04" play at Wheatley Rugby Club and not Wheatley Park Sports Centre,
the two are only 100 yards apart, though there are pitch's in the Sports Centre, Wheatley
play across the road in the rugby club. They play on the old main Rugby pitch, the rugby
team appear to have moved to another part of the complex, I had previously played on the
ground, but on the floodlit pitch to the side of the new main pitch. This pitch is very
small and bumpy. The new pitch also overlays the cricket field where I once took 3 for 7
from three overs !. I saw Wheatley "04" game against Kidlington OB on Tuesday -
4-1 to Kiddy.
BCS Bardwell appear to have lost the use of the Civil Service ground at Rodney House,
en-route to a game last night I checked out Rodney House and found it is now disused and
in a poor state of repair, as mentioned previously on this board they now appear to play
at a new ground in Mallards Way, this is not strictly correct, it is at the end of
Chaffinch Way which is of off Mallards Way. The Mallards Way Estate is a new housing
estate on the east side of Bicester, between Bicester Town Station and the A41 roundabout
at Rodney House. BCS were due to play at home last night, but that has been changed to
tonight (Thursday 26th) according to Mitoo, I cannot confirm that this is correct as I was
unable to get hold of the club sec, I spoke to Mrs Sec who even gave me his mobile number
which was on answer phone. They are also down for a home game this Saturday and next
midweek. |

"Holyhead Hotspur are pleased to announce that Wolverhampton Wanderers will be their
guests when they officially open their new stadium on 28th. July". Therefore, it
looks as if Holyhead Hotspur v Bala Town on the 28 April and H.Hotspur v Llanfairpwll on 5
May will be the final games on the old ground. Both 2.30pm ko. |
 |
25/4/07 Steve Munday
U.C.D Have just commenced work on their new Belfield Bowl and hope to be up and
running by September. The ground will have a capacity of 4,500 when completed. Wexford
Youths have just erected their floodlights and will play their game under lights on Fri
4th May against Shelbourne. A word of warning to anybody who intends to walk to the venue,
it is located on the N11 road to Dublin as stated by Andy Langford but access cannot be
gained from the main road, you have to turn left just before the ground following the
signposts for a lengthy detour. Its a nice walk from the town but allow yourself 2 hours. |

25/4/07 Paul Roach
Mold Juniors Last night I had a really short trip to see Mold Juniors match b
Buckley Town Res (ended 1-8). However they were unfortunately (for me) not playing at Mold
Leisure Centre, which is their listed home venue. Instead they played at the recreation
ground on Maes Bodlonfa, just to the west of Mold town centre. If anyone previously saw ex
WNL League members Led Mills/Mold Town as I did, then they have done this ground (the
pitch nearest the road at least). I was unable to establish whether this is now a
permanent move, but it would appear to be a better facility than the leisure centre, i.e.
changing room much nearer the pitch. The pitch was roped off down each touch line.
Needless to say no programme (never done one to my knowledge) or admission was taken.
Fingers crossed that my next trip (Thursday) sees Johnstown Youth play in Johnstown so I
can get another new ground of the few I need in this league now. Anybody any info on JY?
Incidentally the Holt Nomads fixture listed as Thursday is now next Tuesday (1/5) on the
league website, so I'll aim for that one next week. Also the Caergwrle Castle match on
Thursday 3rd May is to be played in Bradley, not Llay as per normal. This has been
confirmed by their secretary. |

While surfing various club sites lately I discovered that the Weston-Super-Mare

What appears to be Crockenhill's last away game as a Senior club - unless we win
an unlikely immediate promotion next season - is at Holmesdale on Tuesday 24/4 with a 6.30
ko I am told. If anyone is looking for a Crocks home programme from this season I have
suggested to the editor Alan Curnick that he takes some along to sell. If you want to get
one I'll be there taking action pics - ask me and I'll point Alan out to you. |

Re Howe Bridge Mills. I am not sure this is the case. When I first went to Atherton Town
for a Goldline game they were playing on the outside pitch, ie adjacent to the enclosed
ground so I went on to Turton. When I went back to Atherton for a Junior Cup game they
played on the enclosed ground whilst Howe Bridge Mills were also home and played on a
pitch to the North ie the other side of the cricket club bar. This was unroped even though
the visitors were I think Dalton United. |
 |
19/4/07 Chris Ashbridge
Last night (Weds 18th) I attended the Sheerwater v. Tongham match, which
fortunately for me was played on the athletics stadium. However, the programme stated this
would be the last match on the athletics stadium this season, due to a 6 month agreement
with WBC (Woking Borough Council?) Consequently, it would seem that remaining matches will
be played on the outside pitch, although it is possible that Wednesday evenings could be
an exception as there was no athletics training taking place last night. Incidentally,
last Sunday's 'Non-League Paper' gave the ko as 7.30pm but this was incorrect as there are
no floodlights and the match kicked off at 6.30 pm - thankfully, I had arrived early! |
 |
19/4/07 Peter Abbott
Re.
Pasching and Klagenfurt, the two towns are only 257 kms apart! Pasching's ground has been
built up out of all recognition in recent seasons and even if this american style
maneouvre did happen, I reckon the Pasching club / ground would still be around for
hoppers to do in Regionalliga. |
 |
19/4/07 Steve Broughton
A belated reply to John Mollitt re Howe Bridge Mills in the Lancashire Amateur
League - I phoned to check a midweek game this week and was told they play on the pitch
"next to" Atherton Town. On my first visit to Atherton Town they played on the
outside pitch in a Goldline Trophy match, so I assume this is where Howe Bridge Mills now
play |
 |
18/4/07 Peter Leavis
Further to entries below regarding Sheerwater, the matchday programme for tonights match
against Tongham stated, "This will be our last game in the stadium this season due to
the Athletic Club having a six month agreement in place with WBC that started on April
1st". Presumably they will be playing on the outside pitch from now on. |
 |
18/4/07 Leo Hoenig
Moves
are afoot for a merger of Austrian First Division club FC Superfund (aka Pasching) and
Kelag Karnten - the merged club to play at the new Euro 2008 stadium in Klagenfurt (which
is a rebuild on the site of the old stadium). Not certain whether the Pasching stadion, or
the current temporary ground in Klagenfutr would host matches til then |

A few bits of ground news following a recent Irish trip: BALLYMONEY UNITED - Too late for
this season but Ballymoney have left The Showgrounds and are now playing at the Riada
Stadium which is part of the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre complex. The stadium is fully
floodlit which enabled me to attend a mid week 7.45 kick off, complete with a glossy 16
page programme. This is also the home of this season's Irish League newcomers, Glebe
Rangers. DROGHEDA
UNITED - Their programme refers to a "new stadium project" and also the fact
that capacity at United Park is now limited to 1,500. I had no problems attending the
Sligo match but the previous home game v. Derry had been all ticket. ATHLONE TOWN - Now
based at their new Lissywoollen stadium. Contrary to the original fixture listings
supplied by the Eircom League their match night is not Fridays, it is Saturdays with a
very frustrating 7.00pm kick off. I did attempt a double from one of my remaining grounds
north of the bo! rder but failed in the attempt whereas 7.45 would have been no problem. |
 |
16/4/07 Hedley Dye
I am not quite sure which pitch Ian Stewart refers to as the 'top' pitch at
Howden Clough - they currently use the one furthest away from the main road, i.e. the left
hand one when looking from the changing rooms. p.s. for a county cup tie in February they
used the astroturf pitch nearst the club house. |
 |

County Lg) is a 12 noon kick off according to the FA Full Time website. This ties in
nicely with Wincanton v Weymouth Sports at 3pm. The latter is 1st v 2nd in the league
however the title is decided as it is the last game for both and there is a four point
gap. Incidentally Stalbridge also have a 12 noon kick off on 28th April. |

Took in games at Ballingry and Armadale this week north of the border, both very
hospitable Clubs with a tour of the Clubs given at both with half time drinks in the
boardroom.Ballingry a very tidy set up.Appears the midweek 'junior' fixtures are just
starting with the later sunsets.May be mid June before the fixtures and Cup games are
settled up here..great when it dries up down South. No programme at either though. |

Further to the question of Sheerwater's venue, a club official has since told me
that they are playing regularly on the athletics stadium and that only the reserves now
use the outside railed-off pitch. |

Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup Semi Final : Bay Athletic v Golcar United (first
teams !). Friday 13 April 2007 at 1800 at the Huddersfield YMCA ground, Laund Hill, New
Hey Road. This is on the north side of the road just past the University ground where Bay
used to play. The other semi is Newsome WMC v Shepley and is scheduled for Saturday 21
April at 1800 but no venue known yet. |
 |
11/4/07 Chris Ashbridge
Further to the posts about Sheerwater, I 'ticked' the football-only outside pitch
for a Tuesday game three years ago. Perhaps significantly, athletics training was taking
place on the athletics stadium, which may mean that it is unavailable for football on
Tuesdays. Can anyone confirm that this theory is correct, and if so, will Wednesday games
be played there? |
 |
10/4/07 Ian Stewart
Question about Howden Clough from West Yorkshire League. Are they now playing on the top
pitch, the one with the old fence around it? This was mentioned in a early edition of the
Traveller I think. They are at home on Saturday 12th May for anyone who may be interested.
|

Re. Sheerwater, this has always been a double-ground in that during the winter
months Sept to March, Sheerwater have played at the athletics ground then having then to
move outside to the railed-off pitch early and late season. For that reason I have yet to
see a game in the athletics satdium and any advance warning from hoppers of a game there
midweek would be appreiated.
Peter: According to the programme, Sheerwater have midweek home games on Wed Apr
18, Wed Apr 25, Tues May 1, Mon May 7 (11.30), Wed May 9 and Wed May 16. |

As a bonus to my trip to watch Stafford at Aldershot yesterday afternoon, I saw
the 11.30am Combined Counties League Division One game between Sheerwater and Chobham, won
2-1 by the visitors before a crowd of about 50. What appears to be a regular programme was
issued and readily available - there was a most welcome refreshments bar as well. Out of
interest, have Sheerwater moved at some point from the basic railed-off pitch next to the
car park to the ajoining athletics stadium which is 'hidden' behind the trees to the
right? |

fao Hedley Dye, sorry no info on Humberside Cup at Hutton Cranswick. Re Barton
Town 'new' ground, it is at a T to the old one, possible 40 to 60% overlap. both old
stands are gone, three new ones exist. A new ground for some, not for others! Also
reference Andrew Gallon report (2/2/07) on his visit to Barton, in Travellers Tales by
linking from TFT to Football Grounds in Focus website. |
 |

Southern League side Brook House FC are to be known as AFC Hayes from next
season. They hope to be able to attract more sponsorship opportunities with a name
reflecting the local area rather than the name of a local pub! |

Tranent Juniors will be playing the remainder of this season's home matches at
Recreation Park, Ormiston. Their own pitch is undergoing work to relieve drainage
problems. |
 |
8/4/07 Hedley Dye
fao Martyn Girdham. I note the 'new' in Barton Town is in inverted commas - is
there any overlap of the pitch area? I also note that both semis of the humberside cup are
at Hutton cranswick next week - is it a double header or separate pitches? In exchange, I
can offer that Churwell Lions of the west yorkshire league are now playing home matches at
Churwell Hill (A643 & near Cottingley station), the former ground of Upper Armley OB |

Work
has started on TSG Hoffenheim's new 30000 capacity ground which is due to be ready for
season 2009/10. They are strong favourites for promotion to 2.Bundesliga this year which
could be interesting as their current Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion holds little more than 5000.
Meanwhile, has anyone heard anything further on SC Paderborn's new ground - originally due
to be ready for Feb 2006 but which was delayed due to problems with access and parking
(rather ironic in view of the situation at the Herman-Löns!) |

Anybody know of any games in London area on Friday 13th April. Going to Tottenham
on 12th and Leyton Orient 14th, could do with something on 13th. |
 |
6/4/07 Paul Kingston
Does anybody know of any teams who will be moving grounds at the end of the
season? I know about Louth United and I believe Penrith are on the move, is there anywhere
else we need to be getting to this season. |
 |
6/4/07 John Smith
Anyone going to the Wessex league games on Easter Monday at Laverstock and Ford
at midday and then Ringwood at 3pm, I am looking for a lift between the two games. I
would, obviously, pay my share of the petrol costs. |

tretton Eagles of the Staffs County lge div 2 now play their home matches at the
Scropton sports groung, Scropton rd , Hatton. On entering Hatton from Tutbury turn left at
the mini roundabout and the ground is about 250 yards on your right. |

Hounslow Borough have withdrawn from the Hellenic League with immediate effect.
All fixtures listed for the club in this week's 'TFT' should therefore be deleted. |
 |
4/4/07 Martyn Girdham
I visited Barton Town last night for their game v Appleby Frodingham (7-3) in the
CML. Travellers interested in seeing a game at their 'new' ground may be interested to
know the club have now completed the new stand (around 200 seats) and there are also two
small covered standing area's behind one goal. The construction of the large
clubhouse/changing room complex is well under way and will be completed during the summer.
The club have been told the new ground will be very close to Unibond (never mind NCEL)
standard once the facilities are complete. My own village club, Winterton Rangers, who are
in a promotion position in the NCEL Division One, have also constructed two new stands in
the past year (one seated stand plus a covered terrace)and with their new changing rooms,
turnstiles, pitch walls, hard standing etc.. would only need minor modifications to obtain
a Step Three (Unibond Premier) grading. |

Any idea how neutral supporters can get hold of tickets for FA Trophy final or is
it pay on the day? |

A 12-page programme will be issued this Saturday at the Seward Cup Semi Final
between Milverton Rangers and Wyvern Reserves. Definitely the first and last (for a long,
long time) Milverton programme, possibly throughout the Taunton and District League.
Milverton is 15 minutes bus ride from directly outside Taunton Train Station. |

To Andy Langford: No,you are not unlucky!!!On Saturday I saw my seventh

In reply to Paul Roach's query - the Joe Stone Ground is what used to be called
Sparrowhall Playing Fields, and is in Higher Lane, Fazakerley. Take care in case you've
been there before, both Crystal Villa and St Philomena's Old Boys have played there in the
past. |

GOOD FRIDAY 6th APRIL 2007 HERTS JUNIOR CUP FINAL BALDOCK TOWN v KINGS SPORTS The
County Ground, Letchworth - 3pm Kick Off With many non-league clubs not playing until
Saturday, you may like to take the opportunity to watch the Herts Junior Cup Final. Last
September, 120 clubs entered this competition, which goes back over a century, almost as
far as the FA Cup! Baldock Town have gone all the way to the final in only their fourth
year in existence. Managed by Steve King and Barry Laurence, Baldock take on Watford-based
Kings Sports in their first of two cup finals this season. Town currently lie second in
the North & Mid Herts Premier Division with their opponents currently flying high in
the West Herts League Premier. Admission to the County Ground at the Herts FA Headquarters
will be £5 for Adults and £2.50 for Children/OAPs. A programme will also be on sale. We
hope you will all take this opportunity to come and watch an exciting young side, with
most other non-league clubs not in action. |

At the
Republic of Ireland v Wales game last week, Eircom League fixture cards were being handed
out, and according to that, Wexford Youths will be switching to Friday nights after their
home game with Kilkenny City on Sunday 22nd April.
Myself, Graham Cox, Dave Woodings and Brian Meddings, decided to hire a car, enabling us
to do Clover United v Wayside Celtic ( Leinster Senior Lge) at 11am, who play at the
Dublin Postal Grounds,Kiltipper Road,Tallaght, before heading South to Wexford for the
3.30 kick off at Wexford Youths v Limerick 37.The match itself was, in my opinion, of a
poor standard finishing 1-1 in front of a crowd somewhere near the 2,000 mark. It is
certainly not an attacking brand of football, or i might just have been unlucky, as i have
seen 0-0 at UCD,Galway United,Athlone Town,Derry City,Sligo Rovers and Monaghan United,
with 1-0 victories at St.Patricks Athletic,Cork City,Finn Harps,Shamrock Rovers and Dublin
City, as well as my visits to Republic of Ireland matches at Lansdowne Road and Croke Park
also 1-0.Am i really that unlucky ?Wexford's ground is located north of the town on the
N11, being sign posted on the right hand side when coming from Dublin and is very basic,
with tempory seating for 500-600 on one side and nothing else in the ground except 4
portaloos. There was a mobile burger van outside, next to a portacabin where you buy a
ticket, before going through the turnstiles 20 yards away. There was ample car parking, but
they park everyone bumper to bumper at least 6 cars deep, so if you are blocked in you
could be there quite some time after the game. The programme was a brochure type,3 Euros,
mainly adverts with a few pages of text. There was no evidence of any floodlights being
erected in the near future though. We also called at Shamrock Rovers new ground in
Tallaght, but this is just a building site, with a concrete Shell of a main stand, so this
move still looks some way off. |

Vision FC - Can anyone tell me where abouts in Liverpool the Joe Stone Memorial
Ground is? A bit of a search on the net has not really helped much. Hoping to go Tuesday
night. |

This season's Scottish Junior Cup semi-finals have been switched from their usual
consecutive Friday nights to two Saturday dates after Police refused Friday night football
(it's an SPL thing, but unfortunately affects the juniors too). The semis will be - Sat
14/4 Linlithgow v Arthurlie at St. Mirren, and Sat 21/4 Kelty v Kilwinning at Hamilton
Accies. |
